It’s time for our very special MAME 0.265 release! April has seen development across numerous areas. MAME now has support for touch screens on Linux and Windows 8 or later, opening up new possibilities for interactive artwork. If you have a suitable multi-touch screen, you can now play chords on systems with on-screen piano keyboards. Check the documentation for specifics on how touch differs from mouse control in menus. You’ll need to turn on the enable_touch option to use touch screen support on Linux.
 

A pair of 1970s portable computers from IBM are now emulated in MAME: the IBM 5100 and IBM 5110. Based on a heavily microcoded 16-bit architecture, these systems ran APL software by emulating a System/360 mainframe and BASIC software by emulating a System/3 business system (ancestors of IBM Z and IBM i, respectively). Prior to the introduction of the IBM 5100, APL was exclusive to large mainframe computers. A self-contained 25 kg system running APL as well as BASIC was revolutionary.
 

You can now plug a virtual Super Game Module into your emulated ColecoVision, adding more RAM and better sound output. Many titles from the vibrant ColecoVision homebrew development community require or make use of the Super Game Module. There’s also a big update to the ColecoVision software lists, including lots of homebrew software to try out. Other software list additions this month include one of the remaining Bandai RX-78 game cartridges, two more GameKing III games, a batch of MSX2 floppy disks, and the latest Apple II floppy disk dumps.
 

Of course, we haven’t stopped working on arcade game emulation. For the first time, you can play Konami’s Tokimeki Memorial Oshiete Your Heart games. These spin-offs of the popular dating simulation series used heart rate and galvanic skin resistance sensors and printed the results from your game. What appears to be an early version of Visco’s Kokontouzai Eto Monogatari drop puzzle game has been found and dumped. This version has much less content in the data ROM and a smaller program. Another rare find dumped this month is a production version of the CES Galaxy Games StarPak 4 multi-game cartridge.
 

Other improvements this month include serial console support for the KIM-1 hobbyist computer and an option to use one binary file per track when extracting CHD CD-ROM images.

DiscCheckEmu est un outil conçu pour émuler les contrôles de disque que l’on trouve dans de nombreux jeux et logiciels sur disque sans avoir besoin d’un support physique. En interceptant les appels API et en modifiant leur comportement à la volée, DiscCheckEmu offre une expérience transparente aux utilisateurs qui souhaitent profiter de leurs anciens logiciels préférés sans avoir à conserver des CD ou des ISO montés.
 
Les ordinateurs étant de plus en plus dépourvus de lecteurs de CD-ROM, l’accès aux anciens jeux et logiciels sur disque est devenu peu pratique. DiscCheckEmu résout ce problème en permettant aux utilisateurs d’émuler les contrôles de disque, ce qui leur permet d’exécuter leurs titres préférés directement à partir de leur disque dur, sans patcher physiquement l’exécutable du jeu.
 
Veuillez noter que DiscCheckEmu ne fonctionne que pour les jeux et les logiciels qui utilisent des contrôles de disque standard : les anciennes protections basées sur le disque comme SafeDisc, SecuROM ou LaserLock ne sont pas (et ne seront pas) prises en charge par ce logiciel. Ceci est dû à la nature de ces protections qui utilisent le cryptage de segments et l’obscurcissement de l’IAT.

WineD3D For Windows est un wrapper DirectX 1-11 vers OpenGL basé sur WineD3D, qui est une implémentation presque complète de DirectX utilisée dans Wine.
 

 
Même si Windows prend en charge DirectX de manière native, l’utilisation de WineD3D peut améliorer la compatibilité avec les jeux plus anciens, en particulier sur Windows 8 et supérieurs qui ne prennent pas en charge les modes d’écran 16 bits. Une autre utilisation possible est d’imiter les versions non prises en charge de DirectX ou de transférer des applications DirectX vers OpenGL sans avoir à réécrire le code de rendu.
Notez que WineD3D est loin d’être parfait, et de nombreux jeux ne fonctionneront pas.
 
Des instructions sur l’utilisation des DLL sont également incluses.
 
Version 1.7.x fonctionne à partir de Windows 2000.
Version 6.x fonctionne à partir de Windows Vista.

Créé par Exzap (et aidé par Peter Gov), il s’agit du second émulateur de Wii U à être disponible au public mais le premier à émuler des jeux commerciaux. Il peut décrypter les images Wii U qui utilisent le format Wud mais également les fichiers RPS ou RPL. La résolution interne peu aller jusqu’à 1920×1080 selon les jeux (et au delà avec des packs graphiques). Actuellement, le DRC (GamePad), le contrôleur Pro et le contrôleur classique sont émulés. Les Wiimotes sont également émulées (y compris le support natif). Les entrées du clavier + contrôleurs USB en tant que périphériques d’entrée sont également pris en charge. La saisie tactile du GamePad peut être contrôlée par un clic gauche de la souris. La fonctionnalité Gyro est émulée avec des limitations et peut être contrôlée via le bouton droit de la souris. Cette version n’est compatible que pour les Windows x64 (à partir de Windows 7) avec une carte graphique gérant OpenGL 4.1 (ou supérieur) ou Vulkan et il faudra posséder 4 à 8 Go de mémoire vive (Ram) pour le faire fonctionner. A noter que des packs graphiques haute définition sont disponibles ici. Ils permettent, entre autre, d’augmenter la résolution native des jeux car contrairement à Dolphin et parce que la machine est techniquement différente il n’est pas possible à Cemu d’augmenter la définition autrement que par cette méthode.
A l’inverse, des packs SD (définitions standards et/ou basses) sont disponibles sur ce lien et permettent à certains PC manquant de performance de lancer des jeux en 60 FPS.
