[Insolite] Mslug Anthology ou la honte de SNKP |

Metal Slug Anthology has get out on Sony PSP and as we have believed it's an emulation of the 6 first games, from 1 to 5 and also the X edition (as for XBox versions et others versions of the SNKP games). It's logical and it's not a surprise.
Where it begins to be funny it's that the roms used to emulate Metal Slug 5 are in reality those from the first dump released on the net, it means the bootleg dump!
Yes you've read right, SNKP has used bootleg roms with the watermarked Vx and a P1 which has bankswitches, indeed why to use an old crappy dump instead of using a dump of its games (damn, why did I say 'dump'... they have the sources, they can generate a compiled file and ready to be included in a prom, and in the worst case getting informations and use recent roms confirmed by Mame...).

You can see here the crc32 of extracted* roms which match old bootleg
* The extras files are the decrypted Cx roms (graphics), because the PSP has a lack of RAM.
You can see also a m1d file (in Mslug4 for example) which was the given name for decrypted M1 in Mame (ndlr: now we speak about xxx-m1_decrypted) and also the neogeo bios presence which has the same names (and same errors) that the ones used in Mame, as the asia-s3 bios which is in reality named sp-s3 on the composant as you can see below :
asia-s3 is a Mame invention and even SNKP doesn't know it!
To resume we have a bootleg Metal Slug 5 which has got unclean roms, and we can believe that their emulator is based on an old Mame version (supposition). That's a crappy work and everybody must be informed
NB: I remember you that the NJ emulator already exists (MVSPSP), it runs very well and has a better rendering on screen (clean backgrounds) than that Metal slug Anthology.
Finally Metal slug Anthology is good only for Metal Slug 6 which is a PS2 port. |
