a) Quick Start Guide:
---------------------

- What is this?
This is an "INI" (initialisation file)
for the Nintendo 64 emulator "Nemu64"
(homepage www.nemu.com)

- What does it do?
It adds support for many more games.
It gives you improved compatibility information.

- How do I use it?
Unzip the files into your Nemu folder,
overwriting any already there.

- Where can I get more help?
Try my site for a start - www.smiff.clara.net

It turns out that about 50% of all games are playable in Nemu 0.7a!

Happy Nemulating! =]

b) Background:
--------------

Are you fed up with INIs that blatantly *lie* to you ?! ;)
Well, no offence to anyone, but I was,
so I made my own (hopefully!) more honest version.

Q> "So, Mr. Smiff, what makes your INI different?"
A> "Well boy, this one gives it to ya straight =]"

Only when I think a game is *really* playable have I marked it as 'OK'.
I don't count random locking up or horrific slowdown as playable.
(but we all make mistakes!)

I have made up new formats, both for layout of this file and for comments.

c) Install & Usage Instructions:
--------------------------------

Extract these files to your Nemu folder
If prompted to overwrite say "Yes"
Start Nemu and double click on any game marked "OK"
Avoid games marked "Bad"
Follow "!" instructions (details below)
Can you manage that? ;)

d) Important Notes: <--- read this!!
-------------------

RDRAM: Keep RDRAM size set to 8MB unless INI says a game needs 4MB.
Audio: Keep Dummy Mode OFF unless otherwise instructed.
MemPack: Keep MemPack ON unless you have an Adaptoid & Rumble Pack.
New Combine ON/OFF: I haven't added combiner info; use whichever looks best!
E/P/J: the country codes: E=USA, P=Europe, J=Japan; sometimes relevant.
!: an exclamation mark means follow special instructions (details below)

e) Explanation of Comments:
--------------------------

'Playable' (generally grades A to C)

"OK+" Game is near perfect. 3 cheers for the Nemu team! =)
"OK" Game has only minor problems, still very playable :)
"OK (slow)" Game works but requires a much faster PC
"OK (no sound)"	Emulation is OK apart from completely absent audio

'Not playable' (generally grades D to G)

"Bad (graphics)"	Game has severe graphics errors, making it unplayable
"Bad (hangs)" Game locks in a particular place, usually after intro
"Bad (unstable)" Game hangs randomly, unpredictably. Grrrr!
"Bad (nothing)"	Game doesn't even start, or shows only black
"Bad (crashes)" Game causes Nemu and/or Windows to die horribly
"Bad (bugs)" Not playable, specific issues, e.g. Zelda, can't save
"Bad (missing hardware)" Requires special hardware add-on (e.g. Hey You Pikachu)

Special ("!") Instructions:

 "use CTRL+K fix" means:
hold CTRL and hit K repeatedly through into screens to avoid freeze.
 "use Dummy Audio" means:
must go into Nemu audio config and turn on "Dummy Mode"
 "use Audio Prebuffering" means:
you should turn on audio pre-buffering to reduce sound skipping
(can use this anyway if you want, but it matters more for some games).
 "use Rumble Pack" means:
the game requires the Rumble Pack to play - so turn it on...
note that you do not need to actually have a Pack physically present!

f) Adding Cheats:
-----------------

I have stopped including others' cheats in my releases (which I did with permission! ;)
because it's better for everyone, I think, if you get the codes straight from source
- i.e. from other people's INI files (see URLs below) - this way you can always be up to date.

To use other people's cheats with my INI, simply:

1) open the file containing the cheats you want to use in notepad
2) select the cheat codes (include the header e.g."[Mario Kart 64.Cheats]")
3) edit > copy
4) open my INI
5) click in some free space at the top or bottom of the file
6) edit > paste
7) save and close the INI.

Easy!

You may need to edit the cheat code header
e.g. change "[Mario Kart 64.Cheats]" to "[MarioKart.Cheats]"
so that the entry matches YOUR ROM (important!)
(but then you would need to do this anyway)

I strongly recommend that you do NOT edit the header inside the ROM.

g) Updates & Feedback:
