EMUAPC DEMO 0.92 Beta DOS Version
                             USER GUIDE

The DOS version of EMUAPC works with DOS, Win 95/98/Me/NT/2K/XP

NOTE: JOYSTICK,KAYBOARD AND SOUND OPERATE WITH SOUND BLASTER EMULATORS
      FOR INSTANCE VDMSOUND.

To increase performance for XP choose "Properties" and click the "Misc" tab.
In the dialog box, change the "Idle sensitivity" option to Low.

Before you run the EMUAPC you will place Atari 8-bit OS images in the ROM
directory (see INSTALL NOTE for detail).

After you run the EMUAPC you will see user graphics interface (GUI).
Available commands are always display on statusbar.
The statusbar is located the bottom of the screen.
Main window with option is located the center of the screen.

Main window options:

1. Start Emulator ...
This option allows you to change the EMUAPC parameters,
select the Atari 8-bit program and run emulation.
For all features and descriptions see section: 'EMULATOR PARAMETERS ...'

2. Sound Parameters ...
This option allows you to change the sound parameters and sound cards.

   WARNING:
THE EMULATOR SOUND SETUP SUPPORT ONLY THE SOUND BLASTER COMPATIBLE CARDS.
IF YOU HAVEN'T SOUND BLASTER COMPATIBILE CARD
YOU CAN USE SOUND BLASTER EMULATORS FOR INSTANCE VDMSOUND.

   The EMUAPC sound setup support:
   a) Sound Blaster
      No change frequency (only 23000Hz).
      No mixer.
You should set this card if your card has old DSP.
(no mixer, DSP 1.xx or 2.00).

   b) Sound Blaster 2.0
      Change frequency (23000Hz or 44100Hz).
      Mixer support (only volume).
You should set this card if your card has DSP 2.01

   c) Sound Blaster Pro
      Change frequency (23000Hz or 44100Hz).
      Mixer support (only volume).
You should set this card if your card has DSP 3.xx.

   d) Sound Blaster 16
      Change frequency (23000Hz or 44100Hz).
      Mixer support (volume and tones)
You should set this card if your card has DSP 4.xx and above.

3. Screen Parameters ...
This option allows you to change the screen resolution
and vertical blank frequency (FV) for all of one.
This option gives screen scrolles like original Atari.

   NOTE:
IF SOUND IS DISABLED THE EMULATOR IS SYNCHRONIZED TO FV.
IF SOUND IS ENABLED THE EMULATOR WOULD BE SYNCHRONIZED TO FV OR 50Hz.

The emulator screen resolutions and default vertical
   blank frequency (FV):

      320x240 FV=59.7Hz
      360x240 FV=60.0Hz
      360x270 FV=53.9Hz

The emulator allows you to adjust vertical blank frequency
from 50Hz to 60Hz with 0.1Hz step. The default values should be fine
but some monitors may has another FV.
Original Atari (PAL system) has FV equal 50Hz. For screen resolution 360x270 (54Hz)
sound will be good (only 3.9Hz difference).

for 320x240 and 320x240 FV should be set about 60Hz.
for 360x270 FV should be set about 54Hz.

If you set FV equal to FV monitor for selected screen resolution
   you get beautiful scrolles.

If you change synchronization to 50Hz in synchronization option
(described in EMULATOR PARAMETERS section) you will get perfectly sound
but scrolles can not be ideal.

If you change synchronization to FV in synchronization option
(described in EMULATOR PARAMETERS section) you will get perfectly scrolles
and good (but not perfect) sounds for 360x270 resolution.

4. Palette Settings ...
If you choose this option you may change following the palette parameters:

   a) Palette file name:
You may type the name of the external Atari 8-bit palette files (*.act).

Standard palette divisor is equal 4.

   c) Palette range correction
You may switch on/off the palette range correction.
If this parametr is switch on the palette will be scale
(The palette will scale if RGB component of black color is greater then 0).

5. Calibrate joystick
