---------------------------------------------------------------------
1. What is PSEmu Pro ?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
PSEmu Pro is a Sony PlayStation(tm) (also known as PSX) emulator
developed by Vision Thing Group Software (Duddie, Tratax and Kazzuya).
It can run games designed for the PSX console on a PC running
Windows 9x.
Its perfomance depends heavily on your PC configuration, and what
type of PSX game you are attempting to run.
This will not substitute your PSX but it can give you the excitement
to run your favorite games on your PC.
Many games will not work properly or not work at all. We are aware of
this and we do not need to be informed (no e-mails, Thanks).
Speed of emulation will also vary from game to game.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
2. What do I need ?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you got to this point you have sucessfully extracted the PSEmu Pro
archive in a directory. There are other directories inside PSEmuPro\
In the directory "Bios" you will have to put a PSX BIOS ROM image.
You can find the instructions on how to download the BIOS image from
your PSX and some already downloaded BIOSes at the following site
http://i.am/psemu. Which image to download is up to the version
of your PSX. Look on the back of the console and check which version
do you have (should be something like SH-1001).
ATTENTION: You are legally entitled to have an electronic reproduction
of the PSX BIOS ONLY if you personally own an original PSX console.
The BIOS image, like all commercial software is protected under
copyright law.
What to do with the BIOS ROM image will be explained in the next
chapter (Getting Started).

The minimum suggested hardware configuration is:
- CPUs: Pentium or K6
- RAM: 16MB (if you can start Windows with that..)
- CD-Drive: IDE double speed
- Videocard: 2MB of VRAM, DirectX compatible, 16bit color display

For for a decent experience we suggest the following hardware:
- CPUs: Pentium 300Mhz or K6-2 350Mhz
- RAM: 32MB
- CD-Drive: SCSI
- Videocard: 3Dfx Voodoo or any 3D accelerated with Direct3D support
             and 8MB of VRAM

---------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Getting Started !
---------------------------------------------------------------------
So you have the BIOS image as a file. Put it in the "Bios" directory
and run the PSEmu.exe executable.
First thign you'll have to do is to click on the button "Configure".
PSEmu uses a plugin technology. Plugins are external components
located in the "Plugin" directory. The configuration panel will wind
those plugins and make you choose which one to use. Here is a quick
guide to the configuration:

------- Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) plugin: -------

Kazzuya: use this to start. It's the most compatible plugin as it
doesn't require any specific 3D accelerator. The image reproduction
is faithful but the performance is often the poor since it doesn't
use hardware 3D acceleration that your videocard may support.
Use F5 to get the help and F6 to switch window/fullscreen.

Duddie: another software rendering plugin. This was developed by
Duddie, in his spare PSEmu development time, to be the GPU reference
plugin. Try this alternatively to Kazzuya's.. it may give you better
 results.

Nik 3D: This is a Direct3D plugin it's be best bet for 3D accelerated
 cards other than 3Dfx Voodoo.

Lewpy: This plugin is specifically written for the 3Dfx Voodoo cards,
you need to have Glide 3 installed in your computer (find it at
 http://www.3dfx.com).

Tratax: Another 3Dfx specific plugin now discontinued after Lewpy's
plugin entrance.. it may work better than Lewpy's in certain cases.

FoxFire OpenGL: use this if your card supports OpenGL.

Zen OpenGL: use this if your card supports OpenGL. This is
specifically written for the Verite 2100 card.

------- Sound Processing Unit (SPU) plugin: -------

Kazzuya: this gives better performance and more faitful sound
reproduction. The downside is that the BUGS reproduction is also
 more faithful 8)

SEAL: Developed by Duddie and Carols Hasan using the SEAL audio
      library. Often gives better results.

------- Game Controller (PAD) plugin: -------

TSG: supports DirectInput enabled controllers and keyboard as PAD
 device 1 and 2.

Kazzuya: native support for Gravis GamePad Pro, MS Sidewinder and
keyboard. Use only for PAD 1.

Duddie Keyboard: supports keyboard.

Duddie Mouse: simulates the lightgun using a mouse !!

------- CD-Rom (CDR) plugin: -------
Barrett: this one seems to work in most cases. May be less
compatible than TSG but it's strongly suggested to use this
if you have an IDE CD-ROM and you want to listen to XA audio
without penalizing too much the CPU.

TSG: will run on any CD-ROM drive. You may have to disable the
cache from the configuration for better compatibility in some
 games such as Castlevania.

Duddie: specifically made for SCSI CD-ROM drives.

Tratax: specifically made for SCSI CD-ROM drives.

4. Trouble Shooting
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: I put the game in the CD drive, I click on Run CD and the screen
   is black !
A: Make sure you wait long enough.. loading times may be slower than
PSX's. If nothing happens.. then the game just doesn't work with
   PSEmu..

Q: blah blah blah blah
A: The Internet !!

5. About the Authors
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Duddie is the father of PSEmu, he has a special relationship with
hardware and unknown. He does a bit of everything in PSEmu but he
mostly takes care of understanding and emulating the original
hardware. If he was alone PSEmu wouldn't be as good but if he wasn't
there PSEmu wouldn't exist..

Tratax mostly handles the single biggest task in the emulator:
emulating the CPU at usable speed. He is the master of dynamic
recompilation.. something not too different from voodoo magic.

Kazzuya joined PSEmu not long ago after developing a GPU plugin
that made breath PSEmu users sprovided of 3Dfx cards. He usually
takes care of the Geometry Transform Engine emulation (3D geometry
coprocessor), MDEC video decoding and wrote a number of plugins.
His main duty is "do it FAST" ..optimize, optimize, optimize.

Rasky and Moonshado recently joined forces with PSEmu, contribuited
by sharing their Psyke PSX emulator sources.

Numerous others helped, some mentioned in the About dialog, many
others aren't beacuse they are just too many ! Thanks !!
