ROMScanner

Before you are able to start the ROMScanner, you need JAVA (JRE).
All neccessary files can be found on http://java.sun.com.
Download and install it.

To be able to start the RomScanner, you have to go into the directory it
is in and then enter the following in the command line:
java -jar romscanner.jar

Windows user can just execute romscanner.bat.

How to use ROMScanner:

The ROMScanner is looking for data base files (*.rdb) in the subfolder ./database.
If none has been found the folder is autmoatically created after the first start
of ROMScanner.

Later you can change the folder for the RDB files via the options dialogue, as
well as the (Root) main folder, to which all during the scan recognized files are
moved to.

For each database a new sub folder is created in this main folder, if it isn't existing
yet.
All files found with the help of a certain data base are moved to this folder.
Attention!! The files won't be copied, but moved without paying attention to the
former folder structure.

E.g. all files found in the folder "C:\foo" with all sub folders will be scanned with
the data base in the file "database_1.rdb". One file has been recognized,
let's say "C:\foo\foo1\foo.rom". ROMScanner will then move the recognized file from
"C:\foo\foo1\" to e.g "D:\renamed\database_1\"

Handling

Scan files: With this option you can scan the files using the data base, so that they
can be recognized and sorted.

Show DB: With this option you get information about the marked data base.

Refresh: With this button the window "Found database files" is actualized,
so that data bases, that were added after starting ROMScanner are found.
That way you don't have to exit and restart.

Options: Here you can change the folders containing the data bases and the
sorted roms. You can also adjust if the roms should be zipped and if dual roms
should be overwriten.

Miss/Have List: You can scan the roms here or just create a Miss/Have list
without renaming and sorting the files.

Note: Only unimportant things can be found here :o)
