Metadata

Metadata refers to the information about a game that doesn't include the actual game ROM data.

Whereas a ROM file contains only the program code (i.e. only the game), a JStella game file contains that plus other information about the game, including an icon, year released, type of controller used, etc.  To take advantage of the metadata, the game must be launched from Repository Mode (i.e. not Classic Mode).
