Bliss!

WHAT IS BLISS
Bliss is an Intellivision(tm) emulator with a core written in 100% pure
Java with optional native extensions to add additional features for
some operating systems. Emulation of the core Intellivision console is
%100 complete. The Entertainment Computer System (ECS) add-on
component for the Intellivision is also about 80% emulated (enough to
support the games that required the ECS), with the notable exceptions
of support for the cassette, printer, and musical keyboard. The
Intellivoice is also fully emulated.

WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO RUN BLISS
There were two ROM chips included in the original Intellivision(tm)
console that contain copyrighted information, and so they cannot
legally be distributed with the Bliss emulator. These ROMs were the
Executive ROM (the "Exec") and the Graphics ROM (GROM). At a minimum,
you'll need these two ROMs plus ROM images of one or more games you'd
like to play in Bliss.

Also, if you wish to play games which required the Entertainment
Computer System (ECS), you'll need a copy of the ECS ROM.

Finally, if you wish to hear the Intellivoice output in the games which
supported it, you'll need a copy of the Intellivoice ROM.

THE GAMES
If you own original Intellivision games, you may be legally entitled to
possess a backup copy of these games. One such site that carries ROM
images of Intellivision games is located at the following URL.

Disclaimer: The developers of Bliss do not endorse the unlawful
duplication of copyrighted material. Please stay within your legal
rights and do not violate the copyrights of others. Do not download
file images of the Intellivision(tm) Console ROM chips or game ROMs
unless you actually own the originals.

HOW TO PLAY BLISSJX
Extract Bliss from the zip file, then just double-click on
"BlissJX.exe". Note that this distribution of Bliss is only for Win32
users, and DirectX 8.0 or higher is required.

You can reconfigure the input for either player to add joystick/gamepad
support. By default, the keys for player one are as follows.

    0-9 Intellivision Keypad
    DELETE Clear
    ENTER Enter
    CTRL Top Action Buttons
    Z Bottom Left Action Button
    X Bottom Right Action Button
    ARROW KEYS Disc Pad

Bliss also supports the following keys and associated functionality.

    F1 Pause
    F5 Save
    F6 Load
    F9 Reset
    F12 Screen Shot

The screen shot key will place a 320x192 PNG file in the "pics"
subdirectory.

That's it. Also see the whatsnew.txt file for what's new in this
release. Let me know what you think, and have fun! :-)

CREDITS/THANKS
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the original creators
and manufacturers of the Intellivision(tm) console which thoroughly and
gratifyingly decimated so many hours of my time as a child. I hope
this emulator does your console system justice.

I would like to offer a huge expression of gratitude to Joe Zbiciak,
developer of the jzIntv Intellivision emulator. Joe has been the
primary source of research and reverse engineering information
throughout this project.

I would also like to thank Cowering, creator of the GoodXXX ROM
renaming utilities. Cowering has done such an outstanding job
documenting the available ROMs for the Intellivision, I saw no need for
me to duplicate the effort so the game list you see in the front-end is
extracted directly from his work.

The number of people who have unknowingly contributed documentation is
very large, and I want to just say thanks to everyone who has gone
through the efforts of documenting portions of the Intellivision(tm)
hardware.
