2. Installation
===============
2.1 Extract all of the files in the archive (ZIP file) including the directory structure (consult your extraction program on how to do this if you dont know)
2.2 Edit MIMIC.INI.
    - Set ROMPATH to where you keep your ROMs
    - Set CARTPATH to where you keep your Cartrige ROMs eg. SEGAMS.ZIP for all Master System ROMs
    - Set SBLASTER to the port for your sound card
    - Set SB-IRQ to the IRQ for your sound card (should be less than 8)
    - Set KEYFILE to the .KEY file for the desired keyboard mapping
2.3 Place any HWC files you have in the HWC directory
2.4 As with step 2.2, make sure any HWC files that use the ROMPATH line points to the right place.
2.5 Make sure your sound card is set to DMA channel 1 (System Properties in Windows)
2.6 WindowsNT users should make sure that the OS environment variable is set to "Windows_NT"

3. Troubleshooting
==================
3.1 You just get a blank screen (or garbage)
Reason: Your video card probably does not support Mode X (320x240x256). This is a "tweaked" version of the commonly used 320x200x256 video mode.
Solution: Upgade that old video card of yours.
Note: I have heard that some versions of the GForce cards do this, this is because they do not support the VGA registers and therefore are NOT VGA compatible !!!
Note2:Mimic now needs VESA 2 and NOT ModeX.

3.2.1 Mimic runs but you get an empty menu
Reason: HWC directory is empty. Or no HWC have MACHINE entry.
Solution: Download HWC files from the Mimic webpage (http://mimic.arcadeheaven.com) and place them in the HWC directory. If there were files in that directory, edit them and give them MACHINE entries.

3.2.2 Mimic gets HWC menu but but you get an empty cartridge menu
Reason: Cartridge ZIP not found.
Solution: Put carts into a single ZIPfile. Look at the HWC file. The machine entry looks like this...
MACHINEC:System:Company:Year:ZIPNAME
...give your zipfile the same name as in the MACHINEC entry (or change the MACHINEC entry).
Now, put the zipfile in the directory specified in the CARTPATH entry of your MIMIC.INI.

3.3 You recieve a message along the lines of "Cannot load" for a particular ROM.
Reason #1: You don't have the correct ROM image
Solution : Get it. Don't ask me where.

3.4 No sound
Reason: Most of Mimic's sound code is disabled because it is embarassingly bad :P
Solution: Put on a CD. I recommend Beasty Boys :)

3.5 Sound is crappy/incomplete
Reason: Your soundcard may not support OPL3.
Solution: You may need to update your sound card's drivers. I had to for my Sound Blaster Live.

3.6 X-ARCADE not working
Reason: Not using X-ARCADE keyboard mapping file.
Solution: Change KEYFILE entry in MIMIC.INI to XARCADE.KEY
