This is a shareware version of the program

You can share it to your friends and colleges, but in this DEMO version the
gameplay halts after the appearence of the first mothership.
By registering this XEVIOUS Emulator you will reicieve an uncut version without
the "DEMO" message on the screen.

As a registered user you will reicieve the final version which will support
sound and Joystick support when it will be available.

Please read the included LICENCE.TXT file, fill-out the registration sheet
ORDER.FRM and send it to the address above.

Pentium(TM) based PC (75MHz minimum)
Fast local bus graphics card (PCI or VL)
2MB RAM
OPL2/OPL3 compatible sound card

Installing
----------

For installing the XEVIOUS Emulator decompress the archive to an empty subdirectory
on your harddrive (i.e. C:\XEVIOUS\) along with the original ROM images of XEVIOUS.


Running the Emulator
--------------------

Start the XEVIOUS Emulator by entering "XEVIOUS" from the DOS command line or click
the "XEVIOUS.EXE" file from the Windows95 desktop (Explorer).

After the initial copyright message press any key and the Emulator will start.

Command Line Options:

/J  - Enable Joystick/Joypad Support

/S  - Disable Sound

/V  - Disable the Vertical Sync Syncronization (you can try this on slower machines)

/G  - Use "SUPER XEVIOUS" EPROM images

/H/?  Help Screen

/In - Select No. of Lives n = 0 ... 3 Lives
                          n = 1 ... 1 Life
                          n = 2 ... 2 Lives
                          n = 3 ... 5 Lives

/Dn - Select Game Play  n = 0 ... Standard
                        n = 1 ... Easy
                        n = 2 ... Hard
                        n = 3 ... Very Hard

/F  - Skips every 2nd frame (very useful on slower systems, now it runs also on a 486DX4/100 or Pentium 75)

/L  - VGA display with Scanlines (Useful on Notebooks)

/Mn - Select VGA pixel clock: n = 0 ... 25MHz Pixel Clock - VFreq~52Hz
                              n = 1 ... 28MHz Pixel Clock - VFreq~60Hz (Arcade Original Speed) DEFAULT
                              n = 2 ... 32MHz Pixel Clock - VFreq~72Hz
                              n = 3 ... 33MHz Pixel Clock - VFreq~75Hz

              WARNING: THE FREQUENCIES USED MIGHT BE WAY OUTSIDE OF
              YOUR MONITOR RANGE, AND COULD EVEN DAMAGE IT. USE THESE OPTIONS
              AT YOUR OWN RISK.


Keys
----

After starting the XEVIOUS Emulator you can press:

- Key 3 to "INSERT COIN"
- Key 1 to "START 1 PLAYER GAME"
- Key 2 to "START 2 PLAYER GAME"
- Key P to "PAUSE" the game

Use the cursor keys or the Joystick to maneuver your ship (Solvalou) across the screen.
To shoot airborne enemies press the CTRL(STRG)-key or Joystick button.
To destroy ground forces press the ALT-Key or Joystick button.

To quit the XEVIOUS Emulator press the ESC-Key.
