– ADPCM audio for a few games was improved.
– Compatibility for DIM images was improved.
– IPS patch files are now supported. If the name of the IPS file matches the
name of a disk image being loaded (except with the .IPS file name extension),
the image will be dynamically patched without modifying the original file.
Internally, IPS files are treated as if they were read-only delta files.
Consult the manual for more information.
– Floppy disk images within archives are now subject to secondary sorting.
The intent is to push « system » disks or other high-priority items further
up the list. The algorithm is based solely on the file names, so it won’t
work as intended in every situation. This feature does not apply to archives
which contain mixed content (state files, HDD images, etc.) or an excessive
number of floppy disk images.
– The Interrupts window is now more compact. The interrupts-acknowledged count
is no longer displayed. Absent a bug in XM6, it is always the same as the
request count, except while an interrupt is pending, in which case it is
one less. You can infer that an interrupt is pending when the vector column
displays a vector number. (If, for some reason, the two counts are out-of-sync,
the field under the Requests column will be in bold. Please report such errors.)
Bug fixes:
– Replaced the old DMA routines, which were a buggy mess. Fixes at least one game.
– A few poorly programmed games should now crash rarely or never.
– Fixed even more timing-related defects. Nothing major though.
– Fixed some minor problems with DMA.
– Moving upward in the disassembler had some flaws.
– An undocumented feature hadn’t been working. (Good thing I never documented it!)
