AIMP est un lecteur audio gratuit, léger, complet et totalement personnalisable cachant bien son jeu. Les fonctionnalités attendues pour ce type de logiciel sont bien évidemment au menu, à savoir le support de nombreux format de fichiers audio – MP1, MP2, MP3, MPC, MP+, AAC, AC3, OGG, FLAC, APE, WavPack, Speex, WAV, CDA, WMA, S3M, XM, MOD, IT, MO3, MTM, UMX.
Aimp propose également la lecture et enregistrement de radios diffusées par internet, un égaliseur comprenant quinze types de réglages préchargés, une lecture en fondu enchaîné entre chaque opus, un gestionnaire d’extinction automatique, une fonction de reprise rapide d’un morceau en cours, ainsi qu’un module de visualisation, etc…
