BlastEm est un émulateur Genesis/Mega Drive extrêmement précis, conçu pour fonctionner sur du matériel relativement modeste en utilisant des techniques d’émulation avancées. Il prend également en charge le Mega CD, le 32X, la Sega Pico, la Game Gear, la Master System, le SC-3000/SG-1000, le ColecoVision et le Yamaha Copera. Le Heartbeat Personal Trainer, nécessaire notamment pour Outback Joey et d’autres jeux HPBT, ainsi que le Sega Multitap sont également supportés.
