– Added support for FC, SFC, SMS, and GG.
– This update lays the groundwork for future Chinese game translations. If you prefer a cleaner A’can emulator, you can stick with the previous version.
– Many features and tools are still under development, and this will be a long-term project.
– Chinese translations are currently supported for 9 games:
– SFC: Dragon Quest V
– FC: Dragon Quest II; Dragon Quest IV; Heroes’ Legend; The Mysterious Murasame Castle?; Dragon Ball: Daimao Fukkatsu
– Game Gear: Shining Force Gaiden: Ensei – Jashin no Kuni; Shining Force Gaiden II: Jashin no Kakusei; Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict
– All 9 games fully support Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) and Cantonese (Hong Kong).
– This approach does not modify or directly translate game ROMs, so the original Japanese ROMs can be used as-is.
– Unlike conventional translation methods, this project uses a different approach. It initially started as an experiment to extract text from memory and translate it using AI. Although this worked, the results felt like Chinese stickers pasted over individual Japanese characters, and similar approaches already existed.
– The current method was developed to allow 16×16 Chinese characters to replace the original 8×8 character space. At 6× resolution, Chinese characters can reach up to 48×48 pixels, and users can choose their own fonts. However, this approach is more demanding on system performance.
– The project is now available for testing.
– If you’d like to support the project, you’re welcome to join the subscription area, as the current development process consumes a significant amount of AI tokens.
